Matrimonial Artifacts is an ongoing photographic archive of wedding dresses belonging to Black women across generations. Drawing from the language of archives and historical evidence, the project treats these garments and documents as records of lived experience rather than sentimental keepsakes. By preserving and recontextualizing these artifacts, the work humanizes Black relationships and considers how love, commitment, family, and memory are documented, inherited, and remembered.
